for Parents/Carers of children and young people with SEND
ABOUT
SEND Collaboration has been established by me, Jo Hill. I am an experienced SEN&D professional having worked for over 20 years in Local Authority SEND Services including SEN Assessment Teams and Parent Partnership Services (now known as SENDIAS).
I offer a range of supportive services for parents/carers of children and young people with SEND. I have extensive knowledge and experience of the statutory requirements as well as understanding the range of challenges the current SEND 'system' poses for children and young people who have varying educational needs and requirements.
I can offer:
- Support in understanding key educational processes and procedures - what happens when an EHC needs assessment request is made? What support is available at my school? What support is available from the Local Authority? What rights do I and/or my child have?
- Support in liaising with key professionals, either through written communication (email) or verbal/face to face engagement.
- Support in responding to key processes - reviewing a draft EHCP, preparing for an annual review or contributing to a school based review process.
- Support in professional meetings or discussion - either in person or through a preparation session.
- Information and training sessions - specifically designed for parents (or I can offer bespoke training to professionals as well).
- Support in disagreement resolution processes including formal complaints and/or appeals.
My goal in all support provided is to empower you as parents/carers to work confidently with the professional team supporting your child/young person. I will challenge as required, however I consider a focus on joined up working and positive dialogue to be the key ingredients in achieving the best outcomes for children and young people with SEN&D.

I am located in West Sussex, I can offer remote support across the country but face to face support would need to be limited to the South East region (unfortunately I cannot currently offer support within Portsmouth).

We have therefore established a Privacy Notice and Permission Document so that you may be confident in the suitable use and store of your personal data. We will provide both documents to you when you contact us.
